TEXAS RANGERS

ANNUAL TOURNAMENT

picture of Texas Rangers holding fish
Five boats with 16 fishermen was the total this year.

Friday May 2, 2008

Some boats went north and some went south.  Friday was breezy and fish were scattered, at least on my boat.  Everybody managed fish with the big red 7.7 pounds going to Richard’s boat and big trout 2.6 pounds going to my boat.  Today most everyone had close to limits of trout with a few reds mixed in.  Top waters and soft plastics did it today.  Mostly cloudy breezy / windy SSE.

Saturday May3, 2008

Most boats went north this day except one that fished around the saucer, who did have limits of trout and a few good reds.  My boat had a plan, but it was interrupted while we were en route do to some water that looked good, current line off a large flat.  We shut down and jumped out for a short wade.  The rule was if we didn’t have fish within 30 minutes we were going to get back on track.  This stop produced good fish and we nearly had our limit by 8:30am.  One fish went 26 1/8th at 5.3 pounds.  We left and went for redfish.  This stop produced one large redfish and that was it.  We left and went to deep water in search of trout and or reds, but nothing really happened.  We ended at our original stop and picked up two more trout over 24 inches with a few keepers.  We headed in to weigh in at Harbor Bait and Tackle just in time to meet the weigh masters Karri and Sybil.  Below are some of the results of both days.  Top waters and soft plastics were the choice this second day.  Weather was better this day than the day before, partly cloudy with an easterly / northeasterly breeze.
